The door was as close to cardboard as you can get. There's no doubt in my mind, that snow gets in the room because the cracks are very large. The knob was unbelievably flimsy. The lobby stank. The shower head was about 4.5 feet up the wall, so you have to crouch to wash your hair. We wore our shoes on that carpet the whole time. The fan had one speed - high and loud. The curtains constantly blew open, to the public pathway. If you turned the fan off, the room became stagnant, quickly. We unfortunately prepaid for this room through trivago, or we definitely would have left. They allowed pets, and was across the street from a tax free liquor store.
This is an older modest hotel that is run by a very friendly, helpful staff. The rooms were very clean and the grounds well kept. The second floor rooms have a great view of the lake and nice sunsets. A bonus for us is we enjoyed the use of their docks and boat launch. Bring your own coffee and shampoo. If you want a four or five star hotel this is not for you, but if you enjoy a quaint, clean hotel experience run by a friendly group of people then you should like the Lake Shore Motel.
The room met our needs, but it is a run down building and very very basic. We stayed during 100 degree weather and the air conditioning would only work sometimes. We liked the little coffee maker and mini fridge in the room, but those were the only highlights. Tiny bathroom with an extremely low shower head!! Bed squeaked a lot! But we chose the place because it was the cheapest place in town, and it met our basic needs.
Friendly people. the rooms are too dark for senior citizens. however, they are clean and it looks like the place is doing upgrades. If you like retro this is the place
I'm putting a 4 star because I see a lot of potential in this place. First off they let us arrive at 1am and gave us a reduced rate for it. They worked with us to get two rooms and added an extra bed even in one of the rooms. As for the interior and exterior of the building it is pretty modest and older but if that doesn't bother you the staff is friendly and I think it's rub by a family. As for the potential they should remove the non functioning pool and remodel and this place would be fantastic! You would get an awesome view of the river and there are even cabins to rent. I hope they spend some money and time to modernize the place. But for what it is now it is a great spot to sleep.
